Three levers that actually matter
File size comes from pixel count, format, and compression. Fix dimensions first, pick a format that matches the content, then compress. Skipping resize is the most common reason files stay huge.
Quick workflow
1) Check current size with File Size Calculator. 2) Resize to the size you need with Image Resizer. 3) Compress or convert with Image Compressor / Image Converter. 4) Spot-check the preview before you replace the original.
When conversion helps
Photo PNGs are often much larger than an equivalent JPG. Convert screenshots carefully — flat UI art can look worse as JPG. Use JPG to PNG only when you need a PNG container, not to “restore” quality.
Upload limits and privacy
Bratora’s upload-based image tools validate type and size on the server, process temporarily, and clean up after download. Do not upload sensitive documents you are not comfortable transmitting. Browser tools such as HEIC to JPG never upload for processing.

FAQ
Does lowering quality always help?
For JPG and WebP, yes — lower quality usually means fewer bytes. PNG is often better reduced by resizing or converting photos to JPG.
What size should I target?
Match the display size. A 1200px-wide blog image rarely needs a 4000px source.
